Sadayatana « For the Sake of Ghosts »

The following release is not an album released by some label but one of John Tocher's Sadayatana podcasts for the net radio station StillStream. Tyson Brinacombe « EP »

In my attempt to try to open up my offer I found an EP by Ontarian musician Tyson Brinacombe who plays here a surf and psychedelic rock inspired acoustic pop with some modern touches. Usually not my cup of tea, the surf elements and its unpretentious ease makes it fun and apropriate for inclusion.
I especially liked Forget the World and Quick Fix, The Golden Age of Ballooning uses effectively some synths, while Monsters is unmemorable and the weakest track in my ears.
cover
EP is the very umimaginative title of this… well, EP. It was released by Rack & Ruin Records, a netlabel active between April 2008 and February 2011.

Кисаньки Мокренькая Писяющие Лижуть « Пидрахуй: Пестни о звоне в ушах »

Political internet memes lend themselves very easily to musical interpretation, usually by artists of industrial or abstract music. A perfect example is the meme Путин, підрахуй which is actually Ukrainian yet widely known in Russia. In the political context it means "Putin, count the days of freedom" (more or less). Russian music band Кисаньки Мокренькая Писяющие Лижуть has released an EP of abstract and noise music.
cover
Пидрахуй: Пестни о звоне в ушах - which means more or less "Count (the Days): Songs about Buzzing in the Ears - was released by the "Multimedia Dept." of the TrOLO-OLO-LOL-lo TeAm.

mR « Inner EP »

Droning has quite a negative connotation that bodes ill for anything tagged with it. I have always felt uneasy with this style of music, especially because there is a close link to ambient and space music. There are different styles within this theme - I can count at least three different forms that can be distinguished by the sounds that are used. Let's call them tribal drone, industrial drone and space drone. Tribal drone used traditional instruments (like the bagpipe, didgeridoo or tambura) to create the drones, while industrial and space drone used artificial sounds to create drone but let's call the space drones cleaner and somewhat more uplifting while industrial drones are dirtier, noisier. Of course, this is overly simplifying the drone. Most of the time drone bores me soon enough, so I prefer my drone to be rather part of something greater.
This here is an example of space drone and it's shortness is an advantage in my eyes…

Inner EP was released by Italian netlabel Type Konnection on 5th June 2013. It is provided in high quality sound at 48 kHz in 24bit encoding.

Diablo Swing Orchestra « The Butcher's Ballroom »

Sometimes a professional band offers its music through a free license for promotional reasons. That's what the Diablo Swing Orchestra did with its first album.
cover

The Butcher's Ballroom was originally released on 17th August 2006 in hardcopy by Gillioutine Grooves, the label owned by the band itself. Almost three years later, on 24th July 2009, the album - a mix of avant-garde metal, swing jazz, traditional European music and classical soprano singing - was made available under a Creative Commons license.

Eat Rabbit « Kiss the Dolphin »

One of the big advantages of free music - and here I am talking about free as in gratuit - is the fact that you can find music you would never know about and maybe normally wouldn't pay a dime for. Sometimes to your own and the musician's loss…
coverback
Kiss the Dolphin was released March 27th 2009. It's style is… well, unpredictable is the world that comes to mind. Techno, big beat, chipcore, breakcore, glitch are half-useful to describe the cornerstones of his music. I especially liked the name, as I don't eat rabbits but would like the chance to try and kiss a dolphin…

Silence « L'autre endroit »

Occasionally a meteor appears in the world of music. Some shine brightly, some others are rightfully forgotten. But then there are thoses that are hardly visible in the sky but whose remains can be rediscovered and get a late appreciation. Among those latter meteors belongs the project Silence by graphic designer Vincent Girès who in late 2005 released three small albums.
